Opening day archery 2012
Well friends, I did it! I got my buck on opening day! Briggan is teething, and we had a horrible night, so when the alarm went off Monday morning, I was dragging a little. 4 hours of sleep is not enough! So we got out to the stand and did not have to wait long. After first light, my buck came in. Boy, was my adrenaline pumping. He presented a shot, so I took it.......and I was holding my bow so tight that I skipped an arrow across his back. He ran a short distance but decided to come back in. This is RARE. Most people will never get a second shot at a deer, but he gave me another chance. He presented me with another broadside shot, and I nailed him. He ran about 20 yds. and that was it. I was super pumped! The really neat thing is that Todd got the whole thing on video. It was nice to watch it all again. It will also be neat to show Briggan some day. It is always nice to get a deer, but then the real work begins. We process all the meat ourselves, so we have a busy couple of days ahead! It is worth it though for deer jerky!

We have a busy weekend planned. I'm running the Fiesta 5k and 2mile race in Garden City Saturday morning, then coming home to get hunting things organized and ready. Then we are off to a birthday party, and Sunday I'm on call and we have family getting baptised! Whew, I'm glad I have Monday off to recover!

Sleep.....I'm finally getting some!
Well I am happy to report that we have had one successful week of Ferber training! My baby is finally sleeping like a normal kid should, and so is mommy! I will admit, the first night was extremely hard. My friend Kelley Baker helped me get through it and I am so thankful for her support. I was texting her like mad, I just needed to be reassured that I was doing the right thing. Thanks Kelley for your support! It is amazing how much having a well rested family can do for your outlook on life!

Scott Lake weekend
This past weekend we went to Scott Lake. We had a great time just relaxing with family. We went on walks, and went to Monument Rock. This was a very sleep deprived weekend however, and mommy had enough! So, as soon as we got home we began Ferber sleep training. I am happy to report my little man has made it two nights in a row sleeping through the night! Hopefully it will continue! We have a busy weekend ahead, I have a race on Saturday morning, and we are painting our house finally! I would love to use Sunday to recover, but I'm on call. Have a great weekend everyone!

Wichita Weekend and random thoughts......
Hello everyone! Briggan and I made the trip to Wichita on Thursday evening after work. We were very excited to see Crystal and the family! We really didn't have anything planned per se, just a lazy weekend. Crystal had to work on Friday and the kids had school, so Briggan and I went shopping! He needed some jeans and shoes for fall, and mommy needed a Sephora and sushi fix! I have been on a quest for a while to find the perfect red lipstick. I have been told by several that it looks good on me, but I hate when it looks like clown red! So Sephora came to the rescue and I found my perfect red....."Shanghai Express" by NARS. Love it! Friday night, Crystal highlighted my hair and also my friend Timberli's hair. We had pizza, wine, and lots of laughs. It is such a great feeling to be in the company of family and friends.

I came home on Saturday evening for a BBQ with friends. They ordered elk, bison, frog legs, Kobe beef, and other exotic meats. It was a beautiful day, and we spread out a blanket in the grass for all of the babies to play. However, when I got home I found that my husband had been redecorating...........he repainted our upstairs bathroom.

Getting in the groove!
I had a great morning run with Kelley Baker this morning! We are determined to keep in a routine of running together in the mornings. Granted, 5:30 am is early, but I feel so accomplished by having my workout done already! I may be ready to crash tonight, but I am excited about our new routine.
I have been needing a good camera for a while....using my iphone is not ideal in all situations. So......I pulled the trigger this morning and bought a new Canon. I haven't had an SLR since my high school yearbook days. My new one is digital, but I must admit I miss the days of getting to create my own images in a dark room. There was a lot you could do! However, I love the convenience of getting to instantly see my pictures. I just wanted to be able to take some great shots of my family. I will need lots of practice, but hopefully I will get the hang of it!

“Running is a big question mark that’s there each and every day. It asks you, ‘Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?’” – Peter Maher, Irish-Canadian Olympian and Sub-2:12 marathonGuess what Kelley? We were STRONG mother runners today!

Las Vegas here I come!!!!
It is that time of year! It is time to start training for my next half-marathon! I have ran Disney World twice, so this year I went for a change in scenery. My husband and I have never been to Vegas together, so it will be our first post-baby getaway. My heart is already hurting thinking about leaving my baby, but I know that he will be in great hands while we are away. I am hoping to find a training partner to get ready for Vegas, it goes so much smoother when you have someone to help motivate you! I will be starting to put in evening runs after I put the baby to bed. I have a new respect for other mother runners, it is hard juggling everything! Wish me luck!
